WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARNIVAL CELEBRATED?


Happy Carnival Tuesday!  
Carnival is a festive season that typically takes place in February right before Lent. It involves public celebrations and parades and people masquerade during the celebrations.

The most famous of the Carnivals take place today in Venice, Rio, New Orleans and Trinidad but did you know that Carnival is an INTERNATIONAL event celebrated in many areas around the globe?

Here are some carnival celebrations that you might not know about:

Other places with fairly famous carnivals: Haiti, Portugal, Nice, Bolivia, Malta, Greece, Macedonia, Hungary, Russia.... you name the country and ... they probably celebrate carnival!!!!!

  1. Chellur. The Virgin Islands (both US and British) celebrate carnival as well.

    St. John = July
    St. Thomas = End of April beginning of May
    St. Croix = Christmas/New Years time
    Tortola = August

  3. My brother is in Panama for a wedding right now and enjoying carnival there. We are from St. Lucia and carnival is mainly in July. I have never played mas though!

    1. My daughter played mas in New York for the first last summer and it was pretty fun. I think I would like to do it some day
